Over the Summer I met our fabulous Fairy Godmother, Christine Kloser. Christine told me about her “Get Your Book Done” coaching program and I was completely intrigued.
In her own words, Listen to what Christine says about her “Get Your Book Done” coaching program:
Since I haven’t done the program yet I wanted to hear from one of Christine’s students, Liz Pabon whom is also a new Startup Princess.
Meet The Branding Maven, Liz Pabon!
How long have you been the “Branding Maven
I am in my fifth year of business.
How did you hear about the program and what made you interested in doing it?
Christine and I knew one another through a Mastermind group we both belonged to. When she made the announcement that she was launching the Get Your Book Done program, I thought it was brilliant and signed up right away! I had co-authored two books that Christine published and was terribly impressed with her process and the quality of the production. Having a publishing background myself, I was **very** skeptical about the end product. From the cutting of the book pages, to a strong sturdy spine, and well laid out book, she didn’t skip a beat. Everything was done meticulously and the process of turning in the manuscript for my chapter contributions were a breeze. Having had such a wonderful experience with Christine in my contribution to Inspiration to Realization II and Power & Soul, I knew I could trust her to get my solo book published.
What is your weekly commitment to the program like?
Christine follows a process one might not expect. When you’re writing a book, you expect to immediately start writing. Instead, she first takes you through a discovery process to help you get clarity on your audience, your message, and your objective, which grounds you for the research and writing to come. I’ve known several people who dream of writing a book and begin writing immediately. Unfortunately, they have a difficult time getting the book read and promoted in large part because they didn’t clearly articulate who they were writing the book for **before** they wrote it. Sounds like an obvious first step for an author. However, writing a book you want to get out of you is one thing. If you can’t connect that message to a specific audience…that’s a marketing nightmare! And let’s be honest, if you can’t get anyone to pick up your book, your message will forever go unread and unheard.
Each week, Christine takes you by the hand and gets you further and further into the process, preparing you fully before you begin to write. I liken it to marathon running…you can’t just suit up and run the race. There is a process of training, stretching, visualizing, etc. that comes into play before the athlete ever makes it to the track. Christine’s process honors the fact that like an athlete about to prepare for a big race, there is a certain amount of stretching, and training that happens before the writing ever begins. No one want’s a charlie horse on the big day
Because Christine is also a spiritual woman, she incorporates mindful meditations as a part of this process. It’s fantastic! Believe me, knowing you’re about to write a book is exhilarating and a bit overwhelming. Christine’s smooth, easy, lyrical voice guiding you to center yourself before picking up pen to paper is a wonderful added bonus.
What have your results been thus far?
Well, I’m in the final stages of completing my manuscript and expect my book to release later this year. Yeah!
As a sidebar, I’ve enjoyed the meditations so much that I now make it a part of my morning rituals. It’s a terrific way to stay grounded in my purpose and focused for the day. I never imagined this type-a, shoe loving queen would be praising the Ah’s and Om’s but I am and greatly appreciate being introduced to this practice.
How have writing ezine articles helped you in writing your book… (If at all)? Writing a 500-700 word article for my ezine or other publication is quite different than writing a 250+ page book! Even writing a 1500 word chapter for the two books I’ve co-authored didn’t quite prepare me for the responsibility of filling so many pages with my thoughts, perspective, and point of view. If it weren’t for Christine’s process, it could have been easy for me to set the book aside, intending to finish it ‘later’ and getting side-tracked with other projects, never getting it done at all.
I can however attribute time blocking, a habit I’ve used for ezine and other writing, as helping me greatly in the book writing process. I’ve used time blocking to manage my life - nothing get’s done otherwise
Blocking dedicated time each day to my book has helped me stay on track and frankly, enjoy the process.
What do you hope will happen once your book is published? How will you use your book to promote your business?
My book is a platform for a brand evolution I am slated to introduce in 2008. It is written as the foundation for my philosophy on business growth for women, which starts by having an entrepreneurial mindset. A mindset that enables you to leverage what you’ve got to get what you want. Too often, we look to outside sources to get us to the next place when what women need to move them forward is laying dormant within themselves.
I expect my book to jump start my expanded direction and have a creative virtual book promotion campaign planned.
What support does Christine give you for a book launch and PR?
She has some terrific sessions planned for us, outlining a variety of launch and PR strategies and tactics like; getting powerful endorsements that support your book message, accessing the media, and out of the box methods to promote your book online.
What has been the best thing about being in the program?
Getting the book that’s been living inside of me for so long…out. When you are a creative being, keeping any of your creative ’stuff’ trapped inside of you feels restraining. With Christine’s Get Your Book Done program, I feel fully expressed and couldn’t have asked for a better guide to help make my book dream a reality.
For anyone that has dreamt of writing a book but doesn’t quite know where to begin. Or perhaps, you have pages and pages of notes and ideas and need help putting it together and getting it out into the world, Christine’s Get Your Book Done program is your answer. Christine is every aspiring and established authors genie in a bottle. She effortlessly helps make your book come to life. All you have to do is ask, and it shall get done.
