Five Strategies for How to Utilize Professional Product Photography

picture-001.jpgThe following post was written by our fabulous Fairy Godmother Laura Howard West of the Center for Joyful Business:

One of the things I did early this summer is find a great photographer to shoot my new product, the Joyful Business Guide (a creative business plan and system for women entrepreneurs). The company I found is very easy to use and talented. I was really surprised at how affordable they were. Thanks so much Robert – The photos are gorgeous! (And thanks to Ali Brown, the ezine queen.)

If you have a product: CD set, cards, books, etc…I highly recommend that you get several great quality photos of your product. This really builds up your credibility as a professional. I am amazed at how many opportunities I have had to use them already.

It’s obvious that when marketing your product a picture is worth a thousand words.

Five Strategies for How to use Professional Product Photography:

1. Your website – Obviously you’ll want to include professional photos here so potential clients/purchasers will see what they are buying and know the quality to expect.

2. Flyers & Brochures– If you are attending a meeting and you want to distribute flyers or brochures on your product. You’ll want great looking photos!

3. Email inquiries to the media – when contacting the media to write articles it helps if you have great looking photos in your bio – not only of yourself but also of your products.joyflowsightings.jpg

4. Invitations to potential joint venture partners – If you would like others to promote your product or become an affiliate it helps if you have great quality photos to help build their trust in your product. It also makes it easy for them to recommend/promote you!

5. Magazine reviews – If a magazine or blog is going to review your product then you’ll definitely want to have your professional photos on hand. Make it easy for them to say yes!

I had great success with www.productphotography.com. They list their pricing table right at their site and best of all these images are 100% royalty free. You own them and it’s easy to share your photos with their client site. You just send them your product(s) and they’ll call and talk about what you need and the various different photo ideas.
