cherie-burton-small.JPG Name: CHERIE BURTON

Hometown: Hmm…I moved 14 times from birth through high school graduation. I’ll claim Douglas, Wyoming, as it’s the placed we stayed put longest!

Current Residence (City, State): Sandy, UT

Education: Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Minor Degree in Sociology

Professional Background (brief, please): Mrs. Utah 2004, Author of the book “Where Depression Ends,“ Motivational Speaker, Mental Health Advocate with several Utah government and private Agencies, President of Blue Rose Communications, Founder of Emergence Training Seminars for Women

What you wanted to be when you grew up: A Mom and a Teacher

What you are: The sum total of my choices the last 38 years of walking this planet!

Brief Summary of your Start Up: Emergence (Training in the Origins and Manifestation of Feminine Power) is a 2-Day Seminar for Women. Very unique, very powerful and “life-changing.” Day one focuses on your “inner purpose” and day two on your “outer purpose.” Wise and influential, forward-thinking female speakers will present.

Company Website? www.BlueRoseCommunications.com

What inspired you? Women who were able to follow their dreams, ambitions and purpose while still meeting the needs of their families at a very high level.

How long have you been in business? Just over a year!

How did you fund it? Mainly through the revenue of my book sales.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? I have many. There isn’t really a woman out there who is doing exactly what I am doing, so I take tidbits from many women who inspire me and specialize in certain areas I feel drawn to study. I love women who are pioneering!

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? Not yet!

Current Business Challenge? Finding the women to attend my 2-day seminar. I know they’re out there, and I know that once that first group goes through this training, word will spread!

What are you doing about it? Networking with like-minded, generous women who catch my vision for women and share their contacts. Lots of cross-promotion in my “niche” market. Distributing fliers, too!

Favorite motivational quote: “It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us most…We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.” (Marianne Williamson)

Family? I am the proud stay-at-home mother of 3 children, ages 6, 8 and 10 (2 boys and a girl). I have a wonderful, supportive hubby named Jeff.

If so, how do you balance family and business? The way I see it, very few women are operating in joy these days. When a woman truly “gets” her purpose and lives it, she exists in joy and by default becomes a kinder and more attentive mother. There are days I do nothing but live, eat and breathe my children. There are other days that working from home eats up huge chunks of my time. Both days, I am there for my kids and they know I love them. To me, that is balance.

Favorite book? The Power of Intention by Wayne Dyer.

What do you do to relax? Read, take baths, watch movies, scrapbook

What do you want to change most about your world? Nothing. Our environments are exactly as we have created them…so if I were to change something, it would be my REACTION to my world (my thoughts, feelings and beliefs about what I have created)!

What are you most proud of? Tough one! I can’t take credit for most of my accomplishments because God had his hand in every success in my life – from my “titles” to my gifts to my children. I guess I am just happy that I have the new awareness that I do! ☺
What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses? If you love doing it, and you could do it all day…keep finding a way to make money at it! Eventually prosperity will find its way to your passion.

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? Other like-minded women.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Diamonds, of course! And bright blue sapphires.

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman entrepreneur? (I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?) CERTAINLY, YES!

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Image…confidence…networking…finding sponsors

Would you be interested in going to lunch with other women entrepreneurs for a “networking tea party”? Absolutely!

If you are out of Utah County, would you be willing to be a facilitator of such an event? Possibly, yes!
