How to Find Balance Between Work and Home and Still Stay Mentally and Emotionally Sane
June 24, 2009
This is a question I have asked myself a hundred or more times. Work life balance as I see it is the life challenge of any ambitious woman, mother, or wife. How do you do it all and still stay sane? Do you quit taking care of yourself? Yes, until you realize you are going to explode, crash, and give up on everything. Then you decide that even though you have a billion things on your plate you are going to sacrifice them for one brief moment to run away Read more
Defining “Balance” – Not Just Semantics
June 20, 2009
Raise your hand if you dislike the word “balance”. For many working moms, balance is a dirty word that stirs an array of negative emotions. Why? Because they feel like life balance is an unrealistic and unachievable ideal. However, I’d like to suggest that the reason for this may be because your working (or not working) definition of what balance ought to look like in your life is in need of some tweaking. Learning to live a balanced life starts with a healthy definition by which you can gauge your success. Read more
What’s Your Mantra?
June 14, 2009
When times get tough you need a mantra. When times are awesome you need a mantra. What’s a mantra? a little phrase you repeat over and over to help you through a difficult moment or to recharge you when you’re tired or to help realign you to your life’s mission. The best-known example is the classic children’s story “The Little Engine that Could” who repeated “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can” as he charged up the hill. Read more

Want a Dreamy Summer? Start with a Vision Board
June 3, 2009
While I typically think of Vision Boards in January, I decided to create one with my kids (ages 3, 5, 9) just for SUMMER because Summer usually slips by before we get to some of our favorite activities or we’re trying to cram them in all at th e end. This year we wanted to create the Most MAGICAL Summer EVER so we created a poster with all of our dreams. I loved how they found photos they liked that represented their ideas and interests (who doesn’t want a rice krispie treat now and then?). I added two photos, the one of the serenity garden to remind me that we needed some meditation and quiet time in nature as well as the fun. Read more

“Princess Amerah” Wows Maria Andros, YouTube Viewers, and My Neighborhood
April 4, 2009
I heard about “Princess Amerah” last week aka Justine Green of “Magic Princess Parties” and @MagicPrincess on Twitter from my brother who saw her fun and cute entry for Video Marketing Queen Maria Andros‘ contest for a free coaching session, worth thousands of dollars. (BTW, you all know Maria is coming to the Startup Princess Academy in Disneyland, right?) Her video had hundreds of views and caught Maria’s attention (and Maria said her Mom even called her about it, loving it!) Way to put yourself out there and show what you can do, Justine! Take a look at her clever song:
Isn’t she a truly adorable princess? We think so! After I heard about Justine and found out that she was also from SLC, Utah I asked her to come for my daughter’s birthday (we wanted a Princess theme anyhow!) so it was divine timing for us and a party we’ll never forget!
Justine has the talent and creativity to become just about every princess you could dream of, so we went with my daughter Bella’s favorite, “Giselle” from Enchanted. We have it playing nearly everyday at my house for the past several months, so I knew she’d be over the moon about it. And oh, boy was she!! At first when “Enchanted Princess” arrived the girls were in total SHOCK. It was hilarious to watch them in amazement and become so shy.. then they realized there was a PRINCESS in our “castle”. My Bella was so delighted with her new friend she wanted to do “show and tell” and show her all of her Princess dolls and toys…it was special to share an hour together and to have our neighborhood princesses join us.
“Enchanted Princess” was so thoughtful and brought my daughter a little tiara that said “Princess Bella” and it was such a sweet, personalized touch. She sang a beautiful song about how you can be anything when you pretend, taught the girls a cute princess dance and a birthday princess song, took photos with each girl, and taught them all some etiquette. Bulgaria Impressions: “Our Children Are The Most Beautiful and Good”
March 25, 2009
Hello Startup Princess friends, it’s great to be home. I’m still jetlagged, but I’m anxious to report to you about the trip. If you didn’t know, I had the privilege and honor of going on a 8-day service mission to Bulgaria with One Heart Bulgaria, a foundation that I’ve been involved with since it’s origin (2003) as a Trustee and served on the board for a few years. I want to thank my sponsor who generously “granted my wish” for a flight, his kindness was a pure miracle (decided to go a week ahead of the trip!) Read more
