Last week I wrote about being in a state of exhaustion and burnout. I gave myself permission to rest more than usual and enjoyed a fun Halloween weekend with my family and friends. Now that I’m feeling a bit more energy, I’m looking forward to cleaning the past and seeing this new month as an opportunity. There’s always a level of excitement in the unknown and in the possibilities of creation. Hurray for fresh starts!
One of my favorite exercises is to take time to consider where I’m at with The Wheel of Life. Look at the diagram and evaluate where you’re at on the scale of 1-10 in each area and then make tangible goals for the next week, month or quarter in each segment.
While I don’t believe it’s possible to be balanced 100% (or at a “10″ in every area) I do believe that if we make goals in each of these priorities and are trying to progress with tangible goals then we will feel more peaceful with our efforts and how we’re using our time. As I’ve used this diagram in our Startup Princess coaching program I’ve noticed that it’s particularly rewarding when areas overlap such as setting aside to workout with your girlfriends combines social and health. Enjoy seeing where you’re at today (don’t be discouraged if some areas are lacking–so were mine!), set your new goals and revisit the Wheel of Life December 1. I’m sure your results will be more satisfying in 30 days. Let us know what you think! The categories are: Business, Finances, Health, Family and Friends, Romance, Personal Growth, Fun and Recreation, and Physical Environment.

I really think you have found the key to balance in our lives with your wheel of life!
As a professional organizer / productivity coach who works with busy business owners, women and men seeking life balance through better time management and space organizing, I have found that SEEKING balance is the key. None of us live completely balanced lives, but if we are actively working towards it, the probability of living a more balanced life presents itself.
