Brief Summary of your Start Up: After the birth of my son in 2001 I couldn’t find any product that would help me to keep track of breast last used after nursing. As well, I fed on demand but needed help remembering when I last nursed and how many times I nursed in one day. Logs were not the answer for me as I wanted something portable – and pretty.. so after using a beaded bracelet on elastic that broke and ending up in tears – I came up with The Nursing Bracelet.

What inspired you? The challenging time I had nursing (no lactation issues) after the birth of my son. Exhaustion, overwhelmed with being a new mom, husband not as supportive as I had hoped.

How long have you been in business? Started development in 2001.

How did you fund it? I have two partners. We each put in a small amount of money as well as a bit of money from investors.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? We find mentors in various people and sources.

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? Nothing formal.

Current Business Challenge? Figuring out how to keep up with it all!

What are you doing about it? Revising future plans with my partners.

Family? Husband and 1 son who is 5.

If so, how do you balance family and business? My day feels rather scheduled. It is a jam packed day between business and family responsibilities.

What do you do to relax? Go for a run.

What are you most proud of? May be an obvious answer among moms – but my son!!

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses?
Stay true to yourself, your goals and dreams.

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? My blackberry. I couldn’t keep up without it!

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use?
Great question! Okay – I am a diamond girl.. I would get inspiration from Harry Winston as far as design layout.

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman entrepreneur? (I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?) Sounds interesting – would be interested in hearing more.

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Production/Manufacturing.

Would you be interested in going to lunch with other women entrepreneurs for a “networking tea party”? Yes.

If you are out of Utah County, would you be willing to be a facilitator of such an event? Maybe

Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed.

Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help.
