What are we giving away? A 1 Hour phone visit with a Startup Princess Fairy Godmother ($75/hr. value). The visit will include brainstorming and offer possible strategies.

How to Share Your WISH:

1. Write a short summary of where you are with your startup and share you business wish by commenting on this post.

For example: I manufactured my product overseas last year and have it in 10 stores. I wish I had a better marketing strategy for how to increase sales for my product…

    This year, my goal for Circle of Sentiments is to try to bring on more dropship partners. I’d love to get some advice on the best way to go about this. Right now, I’m trying to contact people/on-line boutiques with whom I think my jewelry would be a good fit with. I’m wondering if this is the best way to go about this? I’ve heard of people attending gift shows, etc. but I’m not sure if this would be something I should consider since the bulk of my product is custom made and only a limited amount of my stuff can be sold wholesale. I’d love to win an hour with a fairy godmother expert! Thanks for putting on the contest!

    My product is scheduled to arrive from overseas on February 16th! I’m both excited and nervous at the same time. When people ask what my marketing plan is, I simply say, “Ummm, to sell it online I guess.” But there is no strategy in place to get this accomplished. I would love some counseling to put together an actual plan.

    How awesome, after soul-searching I finally defined my business the last week of 2007 so this comes at an exciting time.

    Taking the love of talking and Deaf culture, I have developed workshops the help to break the stereotypes of those with a hearing loss and those that are culturally Deaf. I’ve market to hospitals at the moment but the workshops are designed for any business that is legally responsible to know the ADA laws. Businesses with 15 employees or more.

    I wish to create a buzz of the “must have” training for businesses today.

    What a fun (and helpful) contest! My 2008 business wish would be to either connect with a Fairy Godmother or attend an training, conference, etc. that featured a successful female professional from a SERVICE-oriented business. I find that most resources offered are tailored to those who distribute TANGIBLE products, and while service-oriented entrepreneurs definitely benefit from the general tips and ideas shared from professionals in these businesses, it would be so helpful to hear from an individual sharing experiences and advice that relates directly to the service professions. Thanks, Startup Princess, for all that your organization does to support women in startup businesses!

    SnoDaisy has enjoyed really nice press this winter, even being mentioned nationwide in an article picked up by the AP. Web traffic has been good, and we’ve generated quite a buzz. However, something is missing and the buzz is not translating into sales. Everyone agrees the concept is solid, but we obviously need to retool the model and turn our clicks into cash. While we have been successful at getting the word out, it hasn’t reached our target demographic. We would LOVE LOVE LOVE some help turning our momentum into sales.

    One of my goals for 2008 is to bring the Wet Happened? wet bag more mainstream. It has done very well within the cloth diapering niche, but I think the use is universal. Try as I might, I just can’t find the correct wording/copy to make clear online what is in my head. :-)

    My 2008 wish is to actually get my product(s) manufactured. I haven’t even gotten samples yet. Money is the main factor as well as finding the right material and manufacturing facility. I am also trying to “own” the images I do have.

    What a great idea Kelly!

    There are a few areas that I think our business would benefit from having a dedicated mentor.

    We have several really nice brands of children toys and products. However we can’t seem to dig into the market that seems to be already been “taken” by the other bigger older online retailers. The products that are selling the best seem to be ones that “the big guys” don’t have. Our prices are competitive and our selections are good.. It’s very frustrating.

    Marketing – how do we get others to talk about us and come to us when they think of unique, wooden, handmade toys and children’s products. How do we effectively market ourselves to generate the greatest ROI. How do we make ourselves and our philanthropic efforts known. Etc.

    Lastly, I think our “About Us” needs some oomph. It’s not telling the whole story, in a well articulated manner. English isn’t my first language and I’m having trouble writing it all out and finding all the right words for our About Us.

    My business is still very much in its infancy stage. I’ve got an idea and a business plan. I’ve purchased the domain and have a list of products I’d like to carry (I want to open an e-commerce site). But I find that I keep going in circles and am not moving forward. I’d love some assistance in figuring out what my next steps should be and if my business plan has the right information in it.
