Company Website?

What inspired you? Took my daughters’ clothing to consignment stores in Salt Lake City (there were none in Utah County at that time).

How long have you been in business? 6 years.

How did you fund it? Personal savings.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? Yes. Kate Holmes

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? Yes. NARTS (National Association of Resale and Thrift Stores), Springville Chamber of Commerce

Current Business Challenge? Making today better than yesterday.

What are you doing about it? Newspaper articles and ads, movie theatre advertising, web advertising, trying to have very good word of mouth advertising.

Favorite motivational quote “If you can dream it, you can do it”.

Family? Husband, 3 daughters.

If so, how do you balance family and business? Our oldest daughters are 25 and 23, respectively. The youngest is 13, and I always feel she’s being shorted, but she seems to handle it pretty well.

Favorite book? “Hug Your Customers”

What do you do to relax? Sit on our deck and watch the mountain. If I had more time, I’d spend it riding motorcycles or at our cabin.

What do you want to change most about your world? Do more of that relaxing you mentioned.

What are you most proud of? Our daughters. Second is our business.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Used ones, of course.

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses? Do what you love. If you don’t, you won’t be happy, and you won’t succeed.

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? Friends from across the nation and Canada who run consignment stores. We mentor, console, and advise each other. I don’t know what I’d do without them.

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman entrepreneur? (I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?) Yes, time permitting.

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Customer service. I think we do a good job with that.

Would you be interested in going to lunch with other women entrepreneurs for a “networking tea party”? Yes, time permitting.

Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed.

Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help.
