My Recovery From Being A Perfectionist

Michael Haynie called me a perfectionist recently and I denied it…over-achiever, yes…perfectionist? I guess it depends on what area of my life you are talking about. I obviously have a tendancy to “to do too much” but don’t they say, “if you want something done, give it to a busy person?” Michael said, it’s ok …because I’m a recovering perfectionist” and I can show you how to recover too. ;) Then he had me write down:

This is my new mantra. I’m trying to be MORE effective (by doing the right things) and productive, not just “active and efficient (by getting things done).” Looking at the dynamic of perfectionism and “doing well” is a challenge, but an important step in being peaceful about where I am, instead of trying to take on too many projects or assignments. Maybe some of you women entrepreneurs out there can relate?
