Oddly enough/divinely arranged I met Heather Madder, professional speaker, writer, and former-talkshow host in the bathroom at the Miller Innovation Center in Sandy, Utah in September of last year. It was just after she spoke to my heart at a women’s event. I was drawn to Heather’s energy and spirit at once and wanted to connect with her. It became one of those rare moments when you connect deeply with someone you don’t know and…and ever since she’s been a dear friend, a spiritual guide, an inspiration, and an example of a mom entrepreneur trying to grow her business with grace and balance. You will all love her too!
When we first discussed Startup Princess.c
om she was fascinated with it and the women we connect with and she expressed a desire to become a Fairy Godmother to share her life mission and purpose, which is empowering others, to “Be Transformed”.
I’ve spent a lot of 2008 connecting to the messages Heather has created in her presentations. I’ve read her thought-provoking book and been strengthened as I’ve listened to her soothing, passionate voice on walks and long drives. After hearing her live once again in the Spring I just knew she was our Keynote Speaker. Her message is powerful, engaging, and real. She has had a life mixed with challenges and opportunities which have given her much perspective, well beyond her years.
Heather has been working on her presentation and recently announced her title, Living as a Creator, with Limitless Capacity. What a profound topic for women entrepreneurs… we are creating our lives, we are creating our families, our businesses, our futures. It’s also a lovely compliment to Make a Wish, Make it Happen, our Startup Princess tagline.
How ironic that life comes full circle and now, one year after we met, Heather will speak to us at the same location, where we first met at The Miller Innovation Center (stage, not bathroom!)

Company Website? www.HeatherMadder.com
What inspired you? My search for truth and healing. As I found peace and healing in my own life, I felt inspired to be a part of assisting others to create that reality in their own lives.
How long have you been in business? Unofficially, I’ve been in business all my life, but I officially formed my company four years ago when I was writing and preparing to publish my first book, Walking on the Ceiling.
How did you fund it? I borrowed money from a credit card company until I began selling products to cover my costs.
Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? Yes! I have had many mentors, some of whom do not know me. I have studied women like Paula White, Joyce Meyer, Beth Moore, and Marianne Williamson who have pursued similar paths. I also have a Fairy Godfather, Dr. Neil Weiner, who is a personal and professional mentor. And Kelly Anderson, the Founding Fairy Godmother, has advised me well on several occasions.
Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? I am currently seeking membership of National Speaker’s Association to network with other professional speakers and create opportunities; I have also frequented local writing groups to assist with my books.
Current Business Challenge? Creating time to pursue the many projects I currently have on the table, and the many others that are in conceptual or “vision” stage. There is an ocean of possibility and my challenge is to work peacefully and contentedly, drawing out one cup of water at a time.
What are you doing about it? I am working to hire another assistant. And choosing to be patient.
Favorite motivational quote: Be the change you choose to experience in the world. (Ghandi with a twist)
Family? My exceedingly handsome husband, David, and I have four children—three boys and a daughter named Analiese, who would be the last (and most expensive) jewel in the family crown.
If so, how do you balance family and business? I prioritize my schedule to first take care of the needs of my family and I use the remainder of my time for my work. When I live consciously and streamline my activities, practice efficiency & delegate tasks, I have an abundance of time to create a thriving family as well as a thriving company. I am also a strong believer in vitamins for energy…and housecleaners (…and takeout!)
Favorite book? Besides my own? (I have to say that.) Books are like children, it’s impossible to choose a favorite because I love them each for unique reasons. My favorite authors are Barbara Kingsolver (especially non-fiction work) and Eckhart Tolle. I am currently married to Deepak Chopras book, Power, Freedom and Grace and dating Three Cups of Tea by David Oliver Relin.
What do you do to relax? Ride my bike, sit on my patio and drink peppermint tea, drive and listen to music, and practice regular meditation. I also love to watch Gilmore Girls (my husband says it’s because it will put you to sleep.)
What do you want to change most about your world? My vision for humanity is to live as one world family united in love, peace, joy, abundance, and freedom. I believe that I, as well as every other person, is an integral part of this awakening.
What are you most proud of? My own transformation where I went from living a small, quiet, uncertain existence to being bold, certain, and seeking to live out loud on a large scale.
What advice would you like to offer other Startup Princesses? Your life’s path already exists as a blueprint inside of you. Trust your own intuition (and disregard dissenting opinions) and open yourself to the path that rightfully belongs to you. You are already equipped with whatever gifts you deserve to have to bring that path to successful fruition. Trust, receive, work with tireless consistency, and allow it to unfold and open in front of you.
Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? Barnes and Noble. Floor-to-ceiling, it is full of knowledge, creative energy, and documented inspirational lives, and they have a Turkey Panini Sandwich that melts your insides. Add a slice of chocolate cheesecake and you will have found your own little corner of heaven.
If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Diamonds. I would use what has the highest value.
Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother and writing articles or speaking at Startup Princess events? Absolutely! Come see me at Touchpoint—the annual conference in September!
What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Being a limitless creator; receiving and creating abundance; clearing obstacles; creating healthy relationships; balancing a career with family life; any personal topic related success & wellness.

I can’t wait to hear her. She sounds like what I need right now! I wish Touchpoint was this week!
I’m excited too, but Michelle…if it was this week we’d never be ready!
