Hometown: Kingston Pennsylvania

Current Residence (City, State): Provo, Utah

Education: Brigham Young University; BA in Communications

Professional Background (brief, please): Nothing I learned in school! LOL Advertising/Marketing, Corporate Film/Video

What you wanted to be when you grew up: Really and truly, it use to be a Professional Fastpitch Pitcher.  I was the Tom boy in the family while my siblings played instruments.  Hence, when what I wanted to do changed, it changed to be the first female Director of the SuperBowl for the television station.

What you are: Owner/Marketer/Producer of CopperRain Productions

Brief Summary of your Start Up: Video Production Company, specializing in Web Video.

Company Website? www.copperrain.com
Blog site: www.copperrain.com/blog
Podcast site:  www.copperrain.com/coppercast

What inspired you? I knew I was going to work BEHIND the camera when I had so much trouble in news class reading the prompter screen without moving my head!!  My husband is also to blame.

How long have you been in business? Officially on paper 2 years, my husband started professionally 6 years.  Someone had to make him official!

How did you fund it?  It really isn’t funded other than our own work goes back to the company.  We had the cameras and the jobs we do get us more money to buy more equipment.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? Not really.  Some good friends…

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups?  Chamber of Commerce (I am a Pacesetter);  Corporate Alliance;  Marketing Success Institute Forum and a monthly lunch group with woman of my church

Current Business Challenge? Most people hear video production and think commercial/dvd and way expensive.  We are having a hard time educating people on the uses of video and all the new vehicles out there to promote it! Our Mantra: Show more, tell more, sell more!

What are you doing about it? Creating some way cool promotional examples and blogging and podcasting and doing everything we can to network!

Favorite motivational quote:  Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Albert Einstein

Family? I would love one! LOL  My husband and I will be married for 2 years December 2006.

If so, how do you balance family and business?  Well, right now I am the boss at work and the boss at home, roles never change.  It is the toughest thing though, to be a husband wife partnership because work invades EVERYTHING.  Dates, dinner we even talk about it while getting ready for bed.  Sometimes we have to tell ourselves, okay for the next hour we are simply husband and wife and have no clue what the other one does at work.

Favorite book?  Business Book: The Purple Cow by Seth Godin  Personal Book: And There Was Light: Autobiography of Jacques Lusseyran, Blind Hero of the French Resistance

What do you do to relax? Play card/board games Uno Attack, Dominos, Skip Bo Rook, if ANYONE wants to have a game night-give us a call!

What do you want to change most about your world?  Well I would want to mention relaxing again, but I think that will never happen.  I want people in the world to act like they have seen the most beautiful sunset.  I don’t think anyone would hurt anyone in that mood.

What are you most proud of?
My husband first of course, and all that we have done and gone through together.

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses?  Just start.  If you wait around forever for someone to tell you what to do, nothing will ever get done, work, family, church or play!

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? Tons of Blogs and books.  You can write me to find out which ones I visit/read the most.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Well my birthstone is ruby, so I’ll go with that.  My husband proposed with a birthstone ring.  He said he’d let me chose my diamond, that way if I ended up not liking it later down the road, he wasn’t to blame!

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman entrepreneur? (I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?) I’m not sure I could help in all aspects of someone’s business, but I’d love to offer ideas for anyone, as well as accept ideas FROM anyone too!

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Anything technological/media related.

Would you be interested in going to lunch with other women entrepreneurs for a “networking tea party”?  Of course, that’s what I do best!

Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed.

Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help.

First, join as a member of Startup Princess and start building a solid foundation. Membership entitles you to a listing in the Startup Princess Online Directory where we list women owned businesses. You’ll also access exclusive content like articles, videos, and audio straight from your email inbox. Coupled with feature interviews, discounts on events, networking connections, and press opportunities, your Startup Princess membership will give any woman entrepreneur a great start for her business!

Then, take advantage of Touchpoint, our annual business conference for women entrepreneurs. Practical planning meets sky-high inspiration at this high-impact event for women business owners to network and develop their approach to business with wisdom and creative direction from other women entrepreneurs across the country.
