Company Website? Thelotuseffects.com

What inspired you? Seeing successful people, and knowing that I could
do the same. This also included a strong desire to have real FREE time
with my family and friends.

How long have you been in business? 3 years – 2 as start up in Costa
Rica, and 1 in Salt Lake. I remain incorporated in CR, and am
naturalized there, which enables me to work in both places.

How did you fund it? Small savings, and a lot of sweat equity.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)?
Not as of yet, but am always
looking for great connections, information and inspirational women.

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups?

I am the Chair for the Miller Women’s Business Center, providing
services and support for start ups and entrepreneurs. I’m a member of
NAWBO. I attend several networkings through the month, i.e; Chamber
luncheons, Women’s business center Breakfast Toasts, Wine/Food
Girlfriend’s night, Utah First Friday’s, NAWBO events, Women
Celebrating Life Group, on line seminars, and any other topic of
interest I may find on events calenders.

Current Business Challenge? Enough time to bring all of my projects
together, and get it to the next level. Another would be deciding which
other offers and projects to say no to, so I can say yes to what I
really need to.

What are you doing about it? Strict project/time management, some wee
morning hours, and late nights, along with bringing in some outside
resources. Lots of great networking and creating evangelists for the
company and projects helps too.

Favorite motivational quote: “And the day came when the risk to remain
tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” -
Anais Nin

Family? Of course, many of us women entrepreneur’s have a second
job– I’m married with one son (15 )

If so, how do you balance family and business?
I schedule dates with
both my son and my husband. I try to keep a consistent schedule with
most things which helps with overall balance. And a hot bath, jog or
yoga class always helps to quiet my mind for a while, that in turn,
sets a tone for family/work balance.

Favorite book? Choosing one is difficult, right now it is “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”

What do you do to relax? Visit the ocean.

What do you want to change most about your world? The ability to create
more passive income streams, that work even when I’m not.

What are you most proud of? That I continue to grow both in business
and personally.

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses?
One of the most difficult hurdles to overcome when starting a new
company or dream, is the impression of fear and doubt and what it takes
to overcome it. Keeping yourself motivated and focused in itself can
seem like a full time job, but each progress you make or milestone you
reach, however small or large, will be your validation. People who have
no vision, have doubts!

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)? Books and the Internet. These
spark inspiration and/or allow me to connect with another individuals I
may not have otherwise on a global level. Both allow me to leverage
people and information.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use?
I probably wouldn’t use the traditional precious stones, but something
along the lines of amethyst, lapis, and malachite.

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman
entrepreneur?
(I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?)
Yes, I would be interested. Tell me more about the what systems you need, and what your goal is.

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in? Small
business models, creating business systems, international business,
spas, real estate and business systems. All spa and wellness industry
related subjects from start up to existing. Project management,
mentoring, marketing and motivation.

Would you be interested in going to lunch with other women
entrepreneurs for a “networking tea party”?
Sure.

If you are out of Utah County, would you be willing to be a facilitator
of such an event?

That would be variable according to the amount of time I’m open. Let’s
discuss.

Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed.

Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help.

First, join as a member of Startup Princess and start building a solid foundation. Membership entitles you to a listing in the Startup Princess Online Directory where we list women owned businesses. You’ll also access exclusive content like articles, videos, and audio straight from your email inbox. Coupled with feature interviews, discounts on events, networking connections, and press opportunities, your Startup Princess membership will give any woman entrepreneur a great start for her business!

Then, take advantage of Touchpoint, our annual business conference for women entrepreneurs. Practical planning meets sky-high inspiration at this high-impact event for women business owners to network and develop their approach to business with wisdom and creative direction from other women entrepreneurs across the country.
