I’ve been enjoying soaking up light and wisdom from Cherie Burton. Cherie was my personal image coach in 2008 and she will be one of our Speakers at our upcoming Startup Princess Image & Media Academy Nov 12-14 in Sundance, Utah. Last week we hosted a call with Cherie on Image & Beauty, if you would like to listen to it, call (712) 775-7399 Access Code: 600073# I also attended a class she taught on Balance in her home on Saturday. I feel so empowered from her messages I wanted to share some of her great insights with you. (This painting is so stunning of a woman “awakening”, see her butterfly wings? see the full image here) Here’s some of the highlights from the call with Cherie on image and beauty:
When we enhance what is naturally there then we will be able to shine more fully in all ways.
When we are our best versions of ourselves then we can do our work more fully.
It doesn’t matter if you are a cake decorator, teacher, or speaker- when we take time to refine ourselves everyone notices.
Women who stand out the most have clear focus and purpose, quiet confidence.
God created all of us with our own strengths and gifts, identify them and enhance them.
Beautiful reminders, huh? I highly recommend her audio “Permission to Shine” available on her website. I’ve listened to it dozens of times! I am excited for her to share more on this subject at the Startup Princess Image & Media Academy.
In her class on “Creating Balance” (it’s never about “FINDING” balance, it must be created!) Cherie shared that many people believe that “order” will create peace, but she suggests differently. She teaches that when we first seek peace in our lives then we will move into a space for order to develop and thus creates balance. Her chart looked like this PEACE>ORDER>BALANCE
Cherie is a big advocate of personal meditation, journaling, doing creation walks (as you exercise have a conversation with God), and being still enough to listen to God’s voice. She says that if we are obedient to stillness then it will be as if you are an observer as God lines up everything. She also encourages the mindset of “Be, Do, Have” * For example, “be light, love and truth” and your actions will reflect that thought and you’ll have a life that represents it.
She closed the class asking, “What do you need to surrender to?” and asked us to be open to taking action on whatever comes up with that question. As we surrender, we create balance, not because we are “giving up” but because we are giving up the control…and surrendering brings balance.
Thank you Cherie for being such a powerful voice and having so much courage to share our message! I love learning from you!

How profound–don’t find, create balance. I think this is sooo true, which is why “balance” eludes us. I think we spend so much time and energy searching for it when all the while it’s within our power to CREATE it. Cherie’s point on–women stand out the most when they have a clear focus, purpose, quiet confidence, is HUGE–this has made all the difference for me. You see, over the years I’ve worked hard on developing the kind of confidence I see in so many successful women entrepreneur and to be honest, it’s very discouraging because I set myself up to live up to other women’s standards when I should focus on my own strengths, core and values. I love these words — “purpose” and “quiet confidence”. These words resonate deeply with me. It puts all that I do into perspective and will help me grow, evolve and develop the confidence that is “me”.
