Here’s a mini post because I’m in the middle of sending out cards myself… Michelle McCullough, Startup Princess Business Development Manager and owner of Doodads Promotional Products company told me the other day that an estimated 85% of the people you send a holiday card to will do repeat business with you in the next year, WOW. Inspired? I was. We decided to get a little fancy and had a custom card made by Emily Yates, graphic designer with a fundraiser for Nie Recovery, but you don’t need to be fancy, store bought ones are perfect. Just let your clients know you care and appreciate their business…it’s worth the added effort. Wish I could show you a peek of our card, but don’t want to spoil the surprise!

Got something to say?
| Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed. Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help. First, join as a member of Startup Princess and start building a solid foundation. Membership entitles you to a listing in the Startup Princess Online Directory where we list women owned businesses. You’ll also access exclusive content like articles, videos, and audio straight from your email inbox. Coupled with feature interviews, discounts on events, networking connections, and press opportunities, your Startup Princess membership will give any woman entrepreneur a great start for her business! Then, take advantage of Touchpoint, our annual business conference for women entrepreneurs. Practical planning meets sky-high inspiration at this high-impact event for women business owners to network and develop their approach to business with wisdom and creative direction from other women entrepreneurs across the country. Need a little help taking your business to the next step? Wish you had a fairy godmother like Cinderella offering you a helping hand? Now you can! As consumers ourselves, we get cards from time to time from insurance agents, among other professions.
But as business owners, that model would only be feasible if one’s client list isn’t gigantuous (if that’s not a word, I say it is now). If your customers total to tens of thousands and up, I’m guessing the most reasonable would be a heartfelt Thank You through an e-newsletter.

true, e-newsletter works, of course! you might also think about your vendors, they help you have thousands of customers.
Just send it. Taking action now will strengthen your relationship with your customers. Don’t worry if you have a huge list. Remember the 80/20 rule: 80% of business is usually generated by 20% of your customers. Identify your 20% and send out a postcard to stretch your budget.
That’s great advice, Ruth. Also, it’s not too late. Send “happy new year” cards to customers and partners, even though the holidays have passed, when thanking those vital to your business it’s never too late!
