Name:  Gina L. Gwozdz

Hometown:  Where ever my family is and right now that’s Bullard

Current Residence (City, State):  Bullard, Texas

Education:  B.A. in Accounting

Professional Background (brief, please): CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

What you wanted to be when you grew up:  Computer Programer

What you are:  Business Owner

Brief Summary of your Start Up:  I am a tax consultant.  I offer tax planning, payroll services and low cost online individual tax preparation to anyone in the United States.  I also offer tax preparation and quarterly estimated tax payment reviews to anyone in Texas.

Company Website?  Http://GLGcpa.com

What inspired you?  I didn’t like the way my previous employers serviced their clients, so I decided to fix that by being my own boss.

How long have you been in business?  This is my first year.

How did you fund it?  I converted my business library, office equipment, computers, etc. from personal use to business use and the rest I financed through past savings.

Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? No.

Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups?  I belong to a few online tax groups and obviously I’m a member of the Texas Society of CPAs.

Current Business Challenge?  Increasing my client base.

What are you doing about it?  Most of my clients come from my existing clients referring to me.  This has worked out well to establish a nice base of clients, but I’d like to expand.  So, I created a blog and started writing.  This is increasing my exposure in a way that allows potential clients to take a peak at what I know.  I have been contacted by a few people and I’m hoping that will continue to grow.

Favorite motivational quote:”Anyone may so arrange his affairs that his taxes shall be as low as possible: he is not bound to choose that pattern which will best pay the Treasury; there is not even a patriotic duty to increase one’s taxes.” – Federal Judge Learned Hand, Helvering v. Gregory, 69 F.2d 809 (2d Circ. 1934)

Family?  Yes.  I have a husband and one daughter.

If so, how do you balance family and business?  I try to work when my husband is at work and my daughter is at school.  When they are home, I don’t work unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Favorite book?  This changes daily, but right now I think I’ll pick A Perfect Day by Richard Evans

What do you do to relax?  Watch the sunset, watch TV, play with my daughter, read, etc.

What do you want to change most about your world?  I couldn’t say.  I’m very happy and satisfied with my world right now.

What are you most proud of?  My daughter

What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses?  Believe in yourself and your abilities and your persistence will pay off.

Favorite Magic Wand (tool/resource)?  Internet (or did you want something more specific?), if so FireFox.

If you could design a tiara, what precious stones would you use? Diamonds and Opals

Would you be interested in being a Fairy Godmother to another woman entrepreneur? (I am working on a secure system to do this, any ideas?)  Sure.

What business subjects would you feel comfortable mentoring in?   Accounting and taxes (mostly taxes)

Startup Princess is an international network committed to empowering Women Entrepreneurs by offering resources for women in business to support, mentor, collaborate, learn from, and inspire one another. In 2006, after struggling to raise funding for an initial startup business venture, Kelly King Anderson recognized an important market niche existed for reliable resources educating women desiring to start and grow successful businesses, thus Startup Princess was developed.

Successful women entrepreneurs understand that for every business venture, they are in charge of creating, organizing, developing, managing, and assuming all the risks associated with their enterprise. That can seem quite intimidating but as other women business owners will tell you, it’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Success is within your grasp and Startup Princess is here to help.

First, join as a member of Startup Princess and start building a solid foundation. Membership entitles you to a listing in the Startup Princess Online Directory where we list women owned businesses. You’ll also access exclusive content like articles, videos, and audio straight from your email inbox. Coupled with feature interviews, discounts on events, networking connections, and press opportunities, your Startup Princess membership will give any woman entrepreneur a great start for her business!

Then, take advantage of Touchpoint, our annual business conference for women entrepreneurs. Practical planning meets sky-high inspiration at this high-impact event for women business owners to network and develop their approach to business with wisdom and creative direction from other women entrepreneurs across the country.
