Fashion Consultation with Sarah Ward of Cable Car Couture and Blue-Bijou.com

Image Consultant Sarah Ward of Cable Car Couture and owner of Blue Bijou jewelry shop was a favorite speaker recently at The Startup Princess Image & Media Academy. It was great to have Sarah come over last week to assess my wardrobe and help me create a shopping list. We primarily worked on my professional wardrobe, what a great afternoon!

I already had some really solid pieces in my professional wardrobe (my fav brands are Ann Taylor and Banana Republic) so when I invited Sarah to come over I wanted her to help me figure out what I should purchase to extend my wardrobe. We spent time going through all of my clothes which was already pretty lean because I’m constantly tossing what I’m bored of and sending off to my favorite consignment shop Wandering Wardrobe in Springville, Utah. (In fact just last week I found $5 pair of Ralph Lauren cords there, love it!)

We determined that my body type is hourglass leaning more towards pear so I look better with more structured shoulders/weight. We also determined that my style is classic-romantic leaning towards dramatic sometimes. My closet was mostly boring “mama” clothes and cool professional clothes so we decided to beef up my transitional pieces.

After assessing my closet and wishlist priorities my shopping list looked like this:
Brown Boots
Black Pumps
Silver Earrings
Black Pearls
Brown Jacket or Drape Cardigan
Pea Coat
Cream Turtleneck
Nautical Striped shirt
V-neck basic long-sleeved shirts in black, brown, burgundy
Skinny Jeans
Thin belt
Scarves

Lucky me we were able to do our consult before Black Friday and I happened on some awesome sales on boots at JCPenney and bought two pair of boots (black and brown) for just $35 and $45 instead of $130 and a Pea Coat for $45 instead of $200. Found most of the rest too at random stores for great prices. Spending time with Sarah was absolutely worth it! I’ll post another whrrl story with my purchases soon, thanks for the suggestion Quinn!
