The Start Up Studio podcast interview with the “passionate and persistent” Barbara Carey hairagami inventor started with only $800 investment (and multiple other product inventor) is an inspiring podcast for women entrepreneurs who have inventions and ideas. Start Up Princess Betsy Flanagan did a fabulous job producing this piece and I’m completely in awe of her!
Have a listen
and here’s some of the highlights:
Barbara’s advice:
Sell products by first getting purchase orders, take orders to the manufacturers
Desire to want a better life, want to be your own boss
Even Barbara’s son when he was 10 years old invented a product with a $300 investment: water talkies, Toys”R”Us bought 50,000 units! and he became a multi-millionaire himself and has continued to be an inventor.
Her confidence helps her–at 5 years old she decided that fear would not control her life…she has the same “noise” but she uses it to help her get what she wants, motivate her
Do what you LOVE to do and make it into a business…
She looks for priced affordably products that have great margins.
All you have to do be able to make 1 prototype
She already sold 50,000 copies of her book before its been published; a TV shopping channel, and alternative distribution, for example, she’s coming out with a soft-cover book will be in Spanish only in flea markets
Passion & Persistence are the key!
You have a choice every single day on how you will spend your time. She says her Carey Formula will work for those who need or want to transition.
She feels is QVC TV a fine organization–that they truly try to educate their audience. They are just like another retailer, you go out there, pitch your product and never take back product from retailers, be confident with quality.
87% of people have their own ideas and don’t know what to do with them, she says its easier to make a lot of money than just a “little bit” with ideas, check out her story.
