Professional Background (brief, please): Angela had a five-year career at Famous Players, Canada’s largest movie theatre chain, Angela was responsible for training development of all staff and played an active role in strategic planning, theatre design, and event marketing, including new theatre grand openings and movie launches. She has intensive training knowledge on Disney training programs and rolled out such programs to thousands of employees. Angela was also responsible for training at Staples/Business Depot, a national chain of retail box stores specializing in technology, office supplies, and office furniture.
What you wanted to be when you grew up: Lawyer
What you are: Vice President & Director of an online wellness company, WalkingSpree, Inc.
Brief Summary of your Start Up: WalkingSpree is the first Canadian company to deliver a comprehensive online wellness package with an advanced Pocket PedometerTM that connects to the computer to encourage walking and staying healthy. For those who struggle with finding time to go to the gym, you can carry your gym in your pocket and your personal trainer is a click away.

What inspired you? I’ve struggled with weight my whole adult life and had been looking for a sensible plan that I could do for the rest of my life. I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted so decided to create it.
How long have you been in business? Brand new, launched Dec 2006
How did you fund it? Funded by the partners.
Do you have a Fairy Godmother (or Mentor)? Not really, I do try to keep an open mind and listen carefully to those that cross my path. There are lots of people out there with endless valuable experience to share.
Do you belong to any Business Organization or Networking Groups? No
Current Business Challenge? Trying to juggle family obligation and work.
What are you doing about it? Trying to keep all the balls in the air! ☺
Family? I have two beautiful boys ages five and two and a half.
If so, how do you balance family and business? As most moms can attest it’s a constant challenge. The advantage of having your own business is the flexible hours. I can pick up my son from school and enjoy the rest of a beautiful day outside then get on the computer after they have gone to bed.
What do you do to relax? A hot bath
What do you want to change most about your world? I’d like more time and more sleep.
What are you most proud of? My sons.
What advice would you like to offer other Start Up Princesses? That if you have something that you believe in and you’ve done your due diligence than go for it and don’t look back.
