I have wanted a new scanner since forever. By that I mean I have never had a scanner. I’ve used other people’s scanners with awe and jealousy and I’ve used the scanner at the Target Photo Lab and always wanted one of my own. I know I’m way behind the times but all I can say is the Epson Artisan 800 was worth the wait, and I guarantee that if I had another scanner I would have been too cheap to get this one. This recently released All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier is perfect for the home and family office and is just under $300 and if you order from Epson you can also get free ground shipping.

I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about the “all in one” and I even told my husband that he should leave the other printer on the desk, too – just in case. He thought I was silly, but I insisted. After one print using my new Epson Artisan 800, I’m sold and wonder where this “all in one” has been all my life. Now my old printer/copier/fax is sitting on the shelf collecting dust
I won’t bore you with lots of details, however, I do want to share with you my three favorite features of this Epson Artisan 800: ease of use and installation, superior print quality and scanning like a dream.
First off, let me say, that it took about an hour to install, but that ain’t bad. The instructions were easy to read and follow and I had expected to give up part way through and have to finish the install later. I was able to do it in one sitting and I LOVED that. Also, the touch screen functionality is super sleek and very simple. Want to send a fax? Hit the fax button and go. Want to make copies? Hit copies, select black and white OR color and go.
Here’s a black and white copy:
In addition to being a scanner and printer it is also a copier and a fax machine. I love those features, too, and have already copied and faxed many items for my business! Though I’m happy that it does these things, my second favorite thing is that it really does print well. If you are like me and you have a black and white printer and a color printer throw them out and get this little beauty. I love that it prints black and whites like they were printed on a dedicated black and white printer, but then I can turn around and print the picture I just scanned and I’m blown away by the resolution and quality. I’ve been scanning old heirloom photos so I can print them for family members for Christmas and they print so well. You can use photo quality paper in this printer, but even printing on regular copy paper is surprisingly high quality
FInally, I am tickled pink that I finally have a scanner in my life. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without one. It’s so easy. I wanted to see if I could scan something WITHOUT looking at any of the instructions. I’ve scanned lots of pictures and I haven’t ever looked at the how to. You can scan to your PC, to a memory card, or a PDF. You can choose your final file size before scanning to ensure that it’s scanned for the size and DPI you intend to use. It’s easy to file the pictures in your preferred folder, and it’s even easier to open your your scanned file into photo editing software to manipulate, crop or do as you wish.
Here’s a copy of an old family photo I scanned :
Now, in fairness, I will say I have nothing to compare it to, so if you have a current scanner, and you are interested in a new one, but have some questions, just ask! Post a comment below with a feature you’ve wanted or something with your scanner/printer/copier/fax and I’ll let you know if that feature exists for you.
