Perhaps it sounds insane, particularly since I only have 3 pages written so far, but last week I committed to my coach Heather Madder that I would have an eBook done and ready for an editor within 30 days (if it goes like I hope then I’ll seek publishing after). I’m going to have to move mountains and bust out a lot of faith and effort to “make it happen” but I’m excited. My book has been on my mind for over a year and its season is here. On last week’s call with Heather she was bursting with an inspired message for me, ‘Get to Work Now’ then she said I’d know what it meant…true. The message was about my book. I knew instantly why she told me that message. I’ve known for a while there’s incredible urgency to get to work “now” on my book because (1) I’m going to be on the cover of Wasatch Woman magazine in September and I want a product to share (2) Our next Startup Princess Touchpoint conference is Sept 11th and I want to debut the book there (3) It’s the right time and I have the faith that God will help me complete it.
Initially Heather and I were going to write the book together but now we’ve decided it’s a solo book and her role is to coach me through it and support me on it’s completion. I’m sure I’ll reference her a lot, so not to worry. Heather’s been a huge influence for me over the last two years in how I think about my life’s purpose and understanding my spirit and relationship with God. The book’s working title is “Heeding the Call: God-Centered Entrepreneurship”. I have been going back and forth about the subtitle so it might end up “Faith-Centered Entrepreneurship”, but for now it’s “God-Centered” meaning-God is directing, rather than faith is guiding one’s business, for me they are very different things. You’ll have to see later what I mean on this topic.
So in order for me to complete the book I’m going to be getting up extra early, blocking out a few days and perhaps taking a couple retreat days at a hotel. My husband is onboard with supporting my deadline and I really appreciate it. I’m also cleaning out my guest bedroom and creating a “room of my own”, loved this post by Danielle LaPorte, a Startup Princess Fairy Godmother, (she’s also been inspiring and coaching me on life and business).
Something else I’m doing whenever I sit down to write is an exercise that Heather suggested, she said to write multiple times affirmations such as, “I am a creative spirit. I write quickly and easily. God speaks to my heart and His message flows out through my fingers.” This exercise connects me back to who I am, my purpose and being an instrument for God in this project. It restores my confidence and ability instantly and my writing flows naturally as a result.
Wish me luck! I won’t be on Twitter or Facebook much this month and if I’m slow to answer your emails, please forgive me…I hope the book’s result will be something that can help many people connect to God in their businesses, beyond getting the initial idea to start in the first place, but to continue to receive inspiration and guidance every step of the way.

I’m happy for you, Kelly! And I support you in your work and your goal. Let me know if you ever need a pep talk!
